The ideal candidate will possess expertise in engineering and hold a valid Certificate of Registration as a civil engineer issued by the State of California Board of Registration for Civil Professional Engineers. This person will have the ability to provide highly complex staff assistance to the Public Works Director including supervise, train and evaluate the performance of assigned staff. Additionally, the successful candidate will: •
- Analyze administrative problems; identify alternative solutions, project consequences of proposed actions and implement recommendations in support of goals.
- Have knowledge of organizational and management practices as applied to the analysis and evaluation of programs, policies and operational needs.
- Understand, interpret and apply pertinent laws, codes and regulations.
- Recommend, organize, manages direct and inspect engineering activities, including capital improvement projects and program planning for future Public Works projects.
- Work effectively in emergency and stressful situations.
- Coordinates with other County departments on administrative and fiscal matters.
Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
Experience: Five years of increasingly responsible professional civil engineering and management experience including three years of supervisory and administrative responsibility.
Training: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in civil engineering or related field.
License or Certificate: Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate, valid California driver’s license. Possession of a valid Certificate of Registration as a civil engineer issued by the State of California Board of Registration for Civil and Professional Engineers.
Salary: $119,766- $145,558 Annually
