Salary: $126,885 – $154,230 annually, DOE/DOQ
The City of Davis seeks an Assistant Director of Public Works - Transportation to oversee the Transportation Division of the Public Works Engineering and Transportation Department. The successful candidate will have expertise in traffic engineering and transportation design and engineering management to ensure City-owned infrastructure, assets, and facilities are constructed and modified in a functional and safe condition. This role enables public works staff to provide the highest quality service to the City of Davis residents and students to enjoy a healthy, safe, and pleasant environment in which to live, work, and study. The successful candidate will support the Public Works Director of Engineering & Transportation with managing the effective use of Division resources, improving productivity and customer service across the Division, and reviewing traffic and transportation plans. This position will also help develop and manage an annual department operating budget of approximately $16M.

EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS

- Equivalent to a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in civil or traffic engineering or a related field.
- Six (6) years of increasingly responsible professional traffic engineering experience including three (3) years of supervisory responsibility.
- Possession of a valid California Driver’s License to be maintained throughout employment.
- Possession of a valid Certificate of Registration as a Professional Civil Engineer issued by the State of California is required.
- Specialty license as a Professional Traffic Engineer is highly desirable.
