The Assistant Engineer is the entry level class in the professional engineering
series. Under general supervision, individuals perform professional
engineering work in the design, evaluation and construction of street,
storm, sewer, and other public work projects.
Assistant Engineers who successfully obtain their professional Civil Engineer
designation from the State of California will be considered for automatic
promotion to Associate Engineer upon demonstrating the professional
capacity to work at the advanced journey level.
Experience/Education: A degree in Civil Engineering and the ability to
obtain a valid Engineer-in-Training certificate issued by the California
State Board of Registration for Civil and Professional Engineers within
one year of appointment -OR- 3 or more years of college level coursework
in Civil Engineering and Possession of a valid Engineer-in-Training certificate
issued by the California State Board of Registration for Civil and Professional
Engineers
Licenses: Valid Class C California Drivers License
