North Marin Water District (office located in Novato, CA) is offering an exciting career opportunity for an experience registered Professional Engineer to join this progressive, customer-focused, and well-run public utility as the Assistant General Manager/Chief Engineer (AGM/CE). Reporting to the General Manager, this position is an integral part of the District’s Executive Management Team and represents and acts on behalf of the General Manager in communication to subordinate managers and others during periods of absence or as assigned. The AGM/CE also supervises the Engineering Department, a small professional and technical staff of 7, in the design, construction, and maintenance of transmission pipelines, distribution facilities, and mechanical and electrical equipment including power and controls. Functioning as the Department Head, the AGM/CE manages and monitors goal accomplishment and expenditures with an annual budget of approximately $33.1 million with $11.6 million in capital improvements and $21.5 million in operations and debt service.
This position requires a Bachelor of Science degree in engineering and 10 years of increasingly responsible professional level engineering experience, including 4 years of experience managing engineering programs or operations. Specific experience must include leading a technical team involved with varied construction and maintenance activities; knowledge of the design, construction, and maintenance of water and sewage system facilities; and a successful track record of handling multiple projects including an active capital improvement program. Also requires possession of a valid Class C CA driver’s license and registration as a PE in the State of CA. A Master’s degree is a plus.
The annual salary range is $172,284 to $209,412 and consists of a five-step range. The District offers an array of benefits including CalPERS retirement.
