Examples of Duties

Reporting to the Deputy City Engineer, you’ll oversee a variety of impactful projects focused on enhancing our City. You’ll work on initiatives like the Ranchero Widening Project, collaborate on the Brightline project, and contribute to the Silverwood Master Plan Community, among others. Ensuring projects comply with safety regulations, working closely with City Departments and external organizations are key aspects of your role. Additionally, you will oversee the public works inspection staff, ensuring the high standards of the department are met.

Typical Qualifications

We are seeking a dedicated professional with engineering expertise and a solid understanding of regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate will demonstrate adaptability, effective communication, and a collaborative approach to teamwork. Strong communication skills, a commitment to public service, and the ability to collaborate effectively with internal departments is essential.

Experience and Education:
 Any combination of education and experience that has provided the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary for a Associate Engineer.  A typical way of obtaining the required qualifications is to possess the equivalent to a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Civil Engineering or a related field; two (2) years responsible experience in the field of civil engineering or a closely related field and a High School diploma or GED.
 
 Licenses/Certificate:
 

  • Possession of, or the ability to obtain within one (1) year of employment a Professional Civil Engineer License (PE) as issued by the California Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors, and Geologists.
