THE JOB: The Santa Cruz County Counsel’s Office is seeking an experienced attorney specializing in one of two areas: (1) General Government and (2) Juvenile Dependency. The most competitive “General Government” candidates will have experience and expertise in representing municipal agencies and departments in both litigation and an advice-and-counsel role in the areas of health services, human services, general services, information services, finance, animal welfare, and Lanterman Petris Short Conservatorship (LPS) proceedings. The most competitive “Juvenile Dependency” candidates will have experience and expertise in the litigation of juvenile dependency proceedings, as well as experience advising and counseling clients in this area.
Attorney II
Salary: $6,838 – 9,164 / Month
Attorney III
Salary: $8,121 – 10,882 / Month
Attorney IV
Salary: $9,485 – 12,707 / Month
THE REQUIREMENTS: Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain these would be:
Attorney II – One year of experience, Attorney III/IV - Three years of experience (gained after admission to a State Bar) as an attorney practicing civil law for a public agency or four years of full time experience as an attorney practicing general civil law.
