About the Position

• Auditing accounting records for small business firms and farm operations
• Verifying the accuracy of property statement data submitted to the Assessor's Office
• Analyzing and appraising property owned by taxpayers, based upon data contained in the accounting records and from physical inspection
• Assisting taxpayers with property statements and property tax matters
• Comparing building records to verify property classified as improvements are accurately assessed
• Processing property statements by inspecting and comparing them to prior year statements in order to determine if all property is reported
• Determining the proper classification of personal property or improvement
• Preparing assessment appeals cases and testifying before the Assessment Appeals Board

The Ideal Candidate Will Possess:   

• Experience analyzing financial and accounting data to draw logical conclusions and/or arguments
• Proven customer service skills, including excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Experience preparing, reviewing, and compiling detailed financial and operational records and reports
• A good working knowledge of, and ability to use, Microsoft Office computer software
• A college degree, including completion of major auditing and accounting coursework and/or license as a Certified Public Accountant
