The City of Burlingame (pop. 30,000) is a thriving suburban city located three miles south of the San Francisco Airport. It boasts a significant shoreline and has two main downtown areas. With a team of 11 staff, the Building Division oversees plan checks, permit issuance, and field inspections of all buildings in Burlingame.
The ideal candidate will be a collaborative professional with a strong customer orientation. They will bring knowledge of best practices in code application, permitting technologies, and demonstrated success streamlining operations. As a hands-on manager, they will have proven success supporting and mentoring a team with varying experience levels.
Successful candidates will have five years of increasingly responsible experience in design, construction, or inspection of industrial, commercial, or residential buildings and a Bachelor’s degree in a related field. A valid ICC CBO certification is required within one year of appointment, and a CASP certification within two years.
