The City of Oxnard is seeking a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to lead and manage the City’s Finance Department consisting of 30 employees across 3 divisions. This at-will position reports to the City Manager, providing relevant and reliable financial information and assistance to all City programs in order to enhance the financial viability of the City. The CFO is a key player in bringing stability and credibility to the Finance Department by establishing sound financial practices, taking ownership over problems, and guiding the Department toward solutions that comport to best practices in the industry. With ideal Southern California weather, strong economy, fine schools, excellent healthcare, and low crime rate, the City of Oxnard offers an exciting opportunity for an experienced individual to provide innovative leadership during the organizational transformation currently underway. The ideal candidate will offer superior team building and communication skills, while mentoring and coaching new and existing staff within the Finance Department. Experience in developing budgets in an environment with severe fiscal constraints, multi-year planning, and development of fiscal policies is pertinent to the Chief Financial Officer, as well as knowledge of current trends, issues, and legislative matters. Requires a Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 8 years progressively responsible experience in financial management and analysis including management of professional staff. Relevant advanced degree and a CPA license are a plus. The annual salary for the Chief Financial Officer is highly competitive. The City Council recently adjusted the salary range up to $225,000.
