The City of El Segundo is located on Santa Monica Bay, encompassing over five square miles, just south of the Los Angeles International Airport. The City’s population is around 17,000, with a daytime working population that exceeds 75,000. El Segundo Police Department is supported by 72 sworn and 25 non-sworn positions with an annual budget of $27 million.
The ideal candidate will be an inspiring and resilient leader energized by the opportunity to serve a small community in a dynamic urban setting. Competitive candidates will be well-versed in contemporary policing techniques and approaches to training and development. In addition, the individual selected will be passionate about setting clear expectations and developing a workforce that includes many who are new in their roles.
Ten (10) years of progressively responsible law enforcement experience, including five (5) years of police management and supervisory experience, in which two (2) of the most recent years must be at the rank of Captain or equivalent. Bachelor’s degree required.
