The City of Port Hueneme seeks a strong executive administrator with exemplary leadership skills to serve as its next City Manager. This is an exciting opportunity to lead a small city while reporting to an engaged five-member City Council. This leader should be creative and have a positive mindset to effectively find solutions to achieve the City’s goals. This role requires a highly responsive professional who will resolve challenges and is eager to take challenges head on. We are looking for a motivational leader, focused on developing others to grow in their roles and inspire a higher level of service. The City is looking for someone who is familiar with the Port Hueneme community and its unique history. This City Manager must be able to build working relationships with elected officials, business partners, surrounding cities, other governmental agencies, and the community through open and respectful dialogue. The ideal candidate will be a steadfast change-agent, an inclusive and engaging leader, and results driven.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
The ideal candidate should be a forward-thinking change maker who has experience leading a municipal organization. They should be external facing, hardworking, and have a passion for serving the public. The successful candidate will identify opportunities for shared partnerships that will support City projects and initiatives and bring demonstrated experience working with developers, businesses, and economic development strategies. The successful candidate will demonstrate emotional intelligence, value community and employee engagement, and build upon a culture where people love to work.
