The City of Trinidad is searching for qualified applicants interested in serving as City Manager.

Strong skills in public finance, budgeting, grant oversight, and contract administration to manage city operations, including streets, parks, water, cemetery, and public assets are required.  Experience building relationships with Tribal Governments is essential.  Located on the beautiful northwest coast of California, Trinidad is a fishing village with a natural harbor and is one of the first incorporated cities in CA.  Surrounded by the neighboring unincorporated communities of Westhaven, Patrick's Point, and Big Lagoon, Trinidad is located on the ancestral territory of the Yurok Tribe, the southern-most village of Tsurai.  The Trinidad Rancheria is the City's neighbor to the south.

The City has 5 administrative staff members, 2 grant administrators, and 5 water/public works maintenance operators.  Planning, Engineering, and Legal Counsel are under contract to professional consultants, and law enforcement services are provided under contract with the Humboldt County Sheriff.  The City owns and operates a small public water system.

With a General Fund budget of just under 1 million, the City is very successful in acquiring grants to supplement capital improvement needs for transportation, public access, environmental protection projects, and water treatment infrastructure.

This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with city management experience and proven ability to work effectively with individuals with strong and sometimes competing interests.  The total salary and benefit package is negotiable.  Trinidad is not a PERS agency.

Application deadline has been extended to the 16th, and will remain open until the review period begins.
