The City of Murrieta, located in southwest Riverside County, was incorporated under the general laws of the State of California on July 1, 1991 and currently supports a population of approximately 114,000 residents. While offering affordable housing and high quality schools, the City represents a blend of dynamic growth amid the traditional values of a historic rural community dating back to the 1890's. DEFINITION
Under general direction, plans, organizes, oversees and manages the staff and operations of the Planning Division, including current and advanced planning, Housing Authority functions and environmental review; serves as source of information for developers, engineers, property owners, and contractors regarding land use applications and general municipal planning programs, projects, and functions; manages the effective use of division resources to improve organizational productivity and customer service; identifies and implements process improvements that help streamline permit review and overall efficiencies; provides highly complex and responsible support to the Development Services Director in areas of expertise; and performs related work as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Equivalent to a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in urban planning, geography, architecture, environmental design, public or business administration, or a related field, and five (5) years of professional urban planning program experience, of which two (2) years should be in a management capacity.
