City Planner

The ideal candidate for this position has been described as a collaborative planner, who recommends solutions for orderly, sustainable growth and development. Politically astute, though apolitical, the City Planner will be responsible for helping to execute the vision, look, and feel of our community. The individual selected for this position will be responsible for making recommendations about the aesthetic design, cohesiveness, and long term sustainability of planning projects. A City Planner must have the ability to compromise, political diplomacy, strong analytical and detailed research skills, a resilient tenacity and financial acumen.  The ideal candidate will be sensitive to intercultural issues and the economically disadvantaged, and will take a leadership role in collaborating with local and regional agencies to address regulatory, compliance, and area improvement issues. A solid understanding of departmental budgets as well as the financial constraints of local government agencies is important.
