The City of Modesto is currently seeking qualified applicants for Deputy City Attorney I/II/III/Senior. Deputy City Attorneys are required to perform legal work related to municipal government operations; to conduct legal research, prepare opinions, memoranda, administrative rules and regulations and other legal documents; to advise City departments, boards and commissions; to prosecute misdemeanor and/or infraction criminal violations of the Municipal Code and/or other codes adopted by the City; and to represent the City in a variety of litigation that involve administrative hearings, trial and appellate work.
Education/Certification
Possession of a Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school.
Active membership in the State Bar of California.
Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate valid California driver's license.
Experience
Deputy City Attorney I - No experience required.
Deputy City Attorney II - One year of responsible experience equivalent to Deputy City Attorney I in the City of Modesto.
Deputy City Attorney III - One year of responsible experience equivalent to Deputy City Attorney II in the City of Modesto.
Senior Deputy City Attorney - One year of responsible experience equivalent to Deputy City Attorney III in the City of Modesto.
