The City of Rancho Palos Verdes is excited to announce the recruitment for Deputy Director of Finance.
The Deputy Director of Finance is an executive-level position that reports directly to the Director of Finance. The Deputy Director of Finance oversees, directs and participates in all activities and programs of the Finance Department, including accounting, purchasing, budgeting, business licensing, cash management, and/or financial reporting. The ideal candidate will have knowledge in development, forecasting and administration of City’s annual budget and capital improvement budgets. Additionally, the ideal candidate will have clear understanding of governmental accounting, public finance administration and budgeting, auditing, reconciliation, and municipal taxation management. The Deputy Director of Finance has expert knowledge in the area of applicable Federal, State, and local laws, regulatory codes, ordinances, and procedures relevant to the areas in finance.
To qualify, an applicant must possess a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in finance, accounting, economics, business or public administration, or a related field AND four (4) years of management and/or administrative experience in municipal finance and accounting. Certification as a Certified Public Accountant in the State of California is highly desirable. To compete, an applicant must demonstrate knowledge and skills to:
· Understand municipal financials including budgetary, contract administration and City-wide administrative practice;
· Coordinate the design, implementation, and control of City-wide automated financial management information systems;
· Communicate effectively orally and in writing with City staff, consultants, elected and appointed officials, governmental agencies.
