The County of Santa Barbara, California (County) is in search of their next Deputy Director of Housing & Community Development (Deputy Director) to lead the County’s efforts related to affordable housing, homeless assistance, and Community Development Block Grant/ HOME Investment Partnership (CDBG/HOME) Programs. Reporting directly to the Director of Community Services, the Deputy Director will oversee an annual budget of approximately $43M and 20 dedicated staff. The County is looking for a tenured leader with in-depth experience working with federal and state funded housing programs, as well as rental assistance and unhoused solutions.   THE IDEAL CANDIDATE The ideal candidate will bring a high-level of confidence and experience as it relates to CDBG programs and will understand the complex process and compliance requirements that these grant programs bring. The County is looking for an innovative thinker with the ability to navigate around funding roadblocks to ensure these programs are brought to life in a timely and efficient manner. The outward facing nature of the Division requires that the next Deputy Director remain a-political, is able to communicate to a wide variety of public audiences and collaborate across department and organizational lines. The successful candidate will be an experienced public or non-profit professional who is a team player and will look for opportunities to continuously improve the programs in the Division. Someone who operates from a place of passion and inspires their team to make meaningful change for the residents of Santa Barbara County is a must!
