The Position
Under administrative direction, assists, plans, manages, oversees, and directs the operations and services of the assigned divisions or programs in the Public Works Department/City Yard, which includes water systems operation, street maintenance, fleet maintenance, and facility maintenance; and coordinates activities with other City officials, departments, outside agencies, contractors, organizations, and the public. The Deputy Director provides responsible and complex staff support to the Director of Public Works.The ideal candidate will be an experienced leader with excellent management skills, a proven track record and at least six (6) years of increasingly responsible professional administrative experience in major public works projects, construction, maintenance and operation of water systems, streets, parks, buildings, and fleet services, preferably with a governmental agency, including at least three (3) years increasingly responsible managerial experience. Bachelor’s degree in public administration, civil engineering, environmental science or related field. Master's degree preferred, but not required.
