The County of Santa Barbara seeks a Disease Control & Prevention Manager (Program/Business Leader job classification) to lead the Disease Control & Prevention Division within the Public Health Department. This dynamic and experienced Manager will directly oversee six public health professionals and a budget of approximately $4 million. As the head of the Disease Control & Prevention Division, you will be responsible for championing key initiatives surrounding tuberculosis, communicable diseases, sexually transmitted diseases, HIV/AIDS, and immunization programs. With your strong nursing background and excellent people management skills, you will serve as a subject matter expert and trusted resource for accurate and up-to-date information. You will also have the opportunity to develop policies and systems, engage in community outreach efforts, and implement prevention initiatives. THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience as a public health nursing professional, serve as a resource for communicable disease knowledge and mitigation efforts, and be a creative and innovative problem solver. They will have a balance of nursing/clinical and administrative experience, managing a unique set of responsibilities that involves everything from disease prevention strategies to budget management. They will be eager to learn, as this role offers plenty of training opportunities regarding infectious disease topics and protocols. They will be an exemplary communicator who will develop strong relationships with key stakeholders and staff. The successful candidate will have many competing priorities and demonstrate a strong interest in engaging, developing, and mentoring staff. They will have a passion for staying up to date on the evolving needs of the community and be highly organized with exceptional time-management skills.
