Under general direction of the Community Development Director, performs a full range of responsible and varied professional, analytical, financial, systems, statistical, programmatic, management and other administrative analytical assignments in support of the City’s economic development activities; promotes the City’s economic development efforts to attract, retain, and help businesses to expand and create new jobs; recommends action and assists in policy, procedure, work methods, and budget development and implementation  related to economic growth and development; and serves as a resource to other City staff, outside agencies, and the general public in answering questions, providing information and assistance, and solving problems.  

The Economic Development Analyst is a class in which the incumbent coordinates the various aspects of the City’s economic development activities. Incumbents, at times, exercise a considerable amount of independent judgement in the use of City organizational resources for the purposes of administering economic development activities throughout the community. Incumbents may perform administrative and analytical assignments.

Education and Experience Guidelines
Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:

Education/Training: A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in public administration, business administration, economics or related field.  A Master’s Degree is desirable and can be used to supplement one year of experience.

Experience: Three to four years in an administrative, technical, or related position, preferable for economic development office which involved marketing and administering economic development projects. Governmental agency experience relative to economic development is preferred, or experience in the private sector working with governmental officials in areas related to local economic development.

License/Certificate: Possession of an appropriate driver's license.
