The City of Ventura's Water Department is accepting applications for the position of Electrical-Mechanical Leadworker in the Wastewater Division.

What You’ll Do

The Electrical-Mechanical Leadworker is responsible for directing and coordinating the electrical and mechanical work of employees as part of work crews engaged in construction, maintenance and repair of wastewater or water equipment and treatment.

This working leader prioritizes and allocates work assignments as necessary to maintain optimal operations at City pumping facilities, wastewater facilities, and treatment facilities. This leadworker develops and implements work methods and practices which capitalize on the independent skills of each member of the crew, creating a synergistic, highly productive team.

The Electrical-Mechanical Leadworker makes recommendations to supervisor, submits information for the purchase of equipment and preliminary budget and may act in supervisors absence.

Incumbent may be required to work stand-by on rotational basis and report to work on a callback basis as needed within a designated time frame. Standby assignment is at the discretion of the Division Head.

Position Qualifications

A combination of education, experience and training equivalent to five years of increasingly responsible mechanical-electrical repair work, including experience with electrical troubleshooting and repair up to 4160 volts are required.  

Prior experience with electrical/electronic monitoring is desirable.  

Experience working in the water or wastewater industry, with college level courses in wastewater treatment and supervision are desirable.

License: 
  • Possession of a valid California Class C driver's license is required. 
  • Within six months of employment, employee must obtain and maintain a valid California State Class A license with Tanker endorsement and the allowable auto transmission restriction.
  • According to the Department of Transportation (DOT), drug testing is required.

Salary: $35.31 - $42.92 Hourly DOQ
