Engineer - Assistant

The Department of Public Works Environmental Engineering Division is hiring a journey level Assistant Engineer located in Auburn, CA. The Assistant Engineer's main role is to perform routine engineering tasks. The candidate would be responsible for assisting in managing capital improvements projects to the County’s sewer lift stations, sewer collection system infrastructure, solid waste transfer stations/material recovery facilities, and closed landfill sites. The candidate would be responsible for assisting with managing consultant and construction contracts, conceptualizing, budgeting, designing, planning, and permitting capital improvements projects and ensure they all meet regulatory compliance, as well as County codes and standards. The ideal candidate will have experience with facilitating competitive bids for design and construction projects. The ideal candidate will also demonstrate a strong willingness and affinity to maintaining working relationship with coworkers, regulators, contractors, consultants and the public.
