The San Rafael Sanitation District (SRSD), which is a part of the City of San Rafael, is seeking a civil engineer to join its Engineering Department. They will be at one of the Engineering Series levels (Associate, Assistant, or Junior). This role requires strong project management, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills, as well as a public works background, ideally in sewer and storm drains. The District is continuously working on exciting capital improvement projects (CIP) that all levels of engineers will be able to get their hands on. This is a small, yet highly performing agency where each engineer has the opportunity to lead their own projects through, from start to finish. They will use strong interpersonal and conflict resolution skills to keep vital projects moving forward. The ideal candidate will have a background in public works, ideally involved in sewer and storm drains. They will be an exemplary communicator, as this role involves interacting with the public, taking phone calls, and resolving complaints. Our ideal candidate will have conflict-resolution and problem-solving skills, seeing each challenge as a learning opportunity. The successful candidate will be well-versed in Office Suite and AutoCAD. They will also be an excellent relationship-builder, as this role has frequent interactions with citizens, City staff, and private contractors.
