Located in northern San Mateo County, just 10 miles south of San Francisco, the City of South San Francisco has a population of about 66,105 (daytime 120,000).  As the Biotech Capital of the World, the City has a strong diverse economy with dozens of development projects currently underway.  South San Francisco’s total FY2021-22 budget is $330 million (General Fund $115 million) with healthy reserves and a triple-A credit rating. The Finance Department is supported by a $3.8 million budget and a team of 15 FTE.

The ideal candidate will be a knowledgeable and strategic municipal finance professional who thrives in a strong team environment.  This innovative problem solver will be open to new ideas and willing to explore unconventional strategies with a keen eye for efficiency.  At least 5 years of progressively responsible municipal finance experience that includes a minimum of 3 years of supervisory/management experience and a Bachelor’s degree are strongly preferred.
