Finance Director/Deputy City Manager

Petaluma is seeking an outstanding Finance Director candidate that will have the opportunity to promote into the Deputy City Manager upon demonstration of the necessary skills and abilities. This position assists the City Manager with planning, organizing, managing, and directing the overall activities and operations of the City government and directs, manages, and oversees the activities and operations of the Finance Department. The ideal candidate has a customer service mindset with excellent leadership and mentorship experience. A seasoned and professional candidate with the ability to communicate well during public presentations, in internal staff and City Council closed session meetings is desired. The City is seeking a collaborative, team oriented, and approachable candidate with outstanding integrity and character. Qualified candidates possess a Bachelor’s degree with major coursework in public administration, business administration, finance, accounting, or a related field. A Master’s degree with major coursework in a related field is desirable. Candidates must have five (5) years of progressively responsible, professional public sector experience in municipal finance management or municipal administration, including three (3) years in a supervisory capacity. 

The salary range for the Finance Director-Deputy City Manager is $164,923.20 to $214,011.20 annually.
