THE POSITION
The City of Monrovia is looking for a special individual to serve as a Finance Operations Supervisor in the Administrative Services Department. The position will appeal to individuals who are inspired by the challenges and opportunities presented in working with an engaged and active community. The Finance Operations Supervisor will report to the Finance Division Manager.

The Finance Operations Supervisor will analyze and supervise staff in a variety of detailed accounting and statistical data, including data related to the City’s budget, general ledger transactions and fees and charges. The City is seeking individuals with previous CPA audit experience. He/she will be working on duties that will include:
- Supervise the Finance Department on day-to-day accounting activities including payroll, grants, accounts receivable, accounts payable, utility billing, cashiering, customer service, and records management.
- Play a major role in the City’s fiscal management program, including budget monitoring, forecasting, and auditing.
- Take lead in overseeing the management of the City’s financial accounting software system.
- Investigate a variety of internal financial and operational issues.
- Improve financial status by analyzing results, monitoring trends, and recommending actions to management.
- Assist in the implementation of a lockbox system for utility billing payments.
- Be a key member in the implementation of a newly-approved Purchasing Policy.
- Support and promote excellent customer service to all internal and external customers.
QUALIFICATIONS
Any combination of education and experience that would provide the required knowledge, abilities and skills is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the qualifications would be:
BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field and three (3) years increasingly responsible professional experience in municipal accounting and/or budgeting, including one (1) year in a supervisory capacity. CPA and MA/MS highly desirable.
LICENSE OR CERTIFICATE
Possession of a valid Class C Driver’s License and a good driving record
