The City of Ventura is hiring!  The City of Ventura’s Finance Department has an immediate opening for a Financial Analyst I/II.   This is a key position within the Financial Services Division and an exciting opportunity to join an experienced team of financial professionals.   
 
The Financial Analyst works under general supervision of the Financial Services Manager and is responsible for performing professional level administrative and technical analysis in the preparation of the City's operation and capital improvements budgets.  The position will be responsible for performing complex research and analysis related to the City's revenue and expenditures and financial and fund conditions in addition to analyzing and preparing complex short-range and long-range revenue and expenditure forecasts.
 
The ideal candidate for this position will demonstrate strong analytical skills and experience with governmental accounting and budgeting.  This person will have an ability to compile and analyze large datasets, comparing actual revenue and expenditures to budgeted outcomes.   The selected candidate will be able to use various methods of revenue and expenditure forecasting and display results in clear, concrete, and concise reports.  The ideal candidate will be a confident self-starter with excellent problem-solving skills, and strong written and oral customer service skills.   
 
Positions are flexibly staffed and may be filled at either level depending on qualifications as stated in the job descriptions.


Salary and Benefits
The City offers a total compensation package that includes both a generous salary plus excellent benefit! Salary: $72,176.00 - $106,766.40 Annually DOQ.


Qualifications
A combination of education, experience and training equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in accounting, economics, finance or a closely related field, and two years of increasingly responsible professional financial or budget administration or analysis experience in public administration, accounting, auditing, financial analysis, or economic forecasting, including experience in budgets and revenues are required.
 
Financial Analyst II:  In addition to that required of a Financial Analyst I, three years of increasingly responsible professional level financial or budget administration or analysis equivalent to a Financial Analyst I with the City of Ventura or a governmental agency at the local, state, or federal level.
