The County of Santa Barbara’s Auditor-Controller’s Office is seeking a dynamic and experienced Division Chief to lead a full-service fiscal unit. The Financial Reporting, Budget & Cost Division prepares financial reports, cost analysis, and provides support to County Departments for fiscal and budget planning. The division is also responsible for the financial management and reporting of the County's Capital Assets, the County's Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR; GFOA Award Recepient since 1991), County’s Financial Highlights (PAFR; GFOA Award Recepient since 1995) and the Countywide Cost Allocation Plan (CAP), in addition to various other State and County Reports are prepared by Financial Reporting, Budget & Cost Division. The division complies with State and Federal reporting requirements and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.

This is the highest level in the Financial Services Management job family and oversees a division, function, or multiple programs within a department. As a division chief, you will report to an executive and provide leadership to a team of up to six professional accountants. Incumbents oversee highly complex and strategic fiscal function(s) and have responsibility for significant budget/funding levels. Decision-making includes establishing work unit objectives and goals, exercising considerable discretion in selecting the method to address a problem or issue, and fostering collaboration among and between the work units supervised as well with work units under the direction of others. This position has significant impact on the specific work units or division and impacts the entire department. This position will also assist with departmental strategic planning as part of the department's leadership team.
