The City of Victorville seeks a Fire Chief to join its dynamic team! The City is looking for a Chief who has considerable experience in fire suppression, emergency medical services, and command leadership. THE JOB/THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
The Fire Chief reports to the City Manager and is a member of the City’s Leadership Team. This Chief will oversee the Fire Department’s 80 staff and $22 million budget and assume full management responsibility for all Department services and activities of the Department, including policy development, fiscal management, code enforcement, emergency medical services, arson investigation, fire suppression, mitigation, and prevention, and ensure a positive organizational culture that is aligned with the City’s mission, vision, values, and goals. This position will hire, train, mentor, and retain talented staff and stay informed of new trends and innovations in the field of emergency medical service. They will have a strong understanding of local, federal, and state laws, codes, and ordinances and ensure that the Department is consistently compliant. 

Having both operational and administrative skills is integral to this role, and the ideal candidate will leverage data to inform decision-making, produce reports, present in public, and demonstrate humble confidence, political savvy, and emotional intelligence. This Chief will strive to improve personally and seek out and accept constructive criticism. The successful candidate will foster a positive culture, and be an excellent communicator, negotiator, and relationship builder.
