THE POSITION

Under general direction of the Fire Chief, this Limited Term-Fire Division Chief manages one of three major divisions of the Fire District; directs and completes special assignments in support of the Fire Chief; assists the Fire Chief in meeting Board policies, goals and legislative mandates; and acts for the Chief as designated during periods of absence. The assignment to a major division will be made by the Fire Chief and may be to the Operations/Emergency Services Division, the Resilience/Community Risk Reduction Division or the Support Services Division.

This position will be completing specific deliverables as described in the associated grant. 

Operations/Emergency Services assignment has primary responsibility for: fire suppression, rescue operations, emergency medical response services, and related activities in support of these functions.

Resilience/Community Risk Reduction assignment has primary responsibility for: implements, coordinates, and advocates local resilience programs and disaster planning/response/recovery goals, objectives, and community outcomes, EOC management, arson investigations; and, public information and education. Leads the development of a comprehensive strategy that is informed by the array of needs facing the applicant community, including the populations and infrastructure that are most vulnerable, and incorporates planning and implementation of mitigation, preparedness, and recovery activities, and mitigation project scoping.

Support Services assignment has the primary responsibility for: oversight of training staff, Information Technology, fleet management, District facilities management, and Auxiliary Workers.

While this is a multi-position classification with each position assigned to a specific area, the incumbents may be called upon to assist, or assume the duties in another area of assignment and perform other related duties as assigned.

(This position currently works a 40-hour work schedule or may be assigned alternate work schedule and overtime to meet organizational needs and/or Duty Assignment)

This is a grant funded position for three (3) years; Position may be permanent, casual, part-time, or limited term.
