See the full recruitment brochure here The City of Sacramento is seeking a Labor Relations Officer to serve as policy leader within the City’s Human Resources (HR) Department. The candidate should have direct experience with labor and employee relations, policies and procedures, collective bargaining agreements, and long-range strategic planning. The candidate should have a basic understanding of workplace safety and risk, classification and compensation, benefits administration, and worker’s compensation. This critical role’s key responsibility will be to develop and negotiate City-wide policies and procedures with labor unions and management, using confident negotiation skills and diplomacy. A comprehensive understanding of the MMBA, (Dills Act, EERA, HEERA, BART Act, etc., is acceptable), is critical to the success of this position. The Labor Relations Officer will drive the negotiation of essential policy changes and implementations and assist with the development of new policies as needed. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of labor relations policies in the state of California, and a desire to work specifically on policy development and implementation. The ideal candidate for this role will have extensive experience working in the public sector, specifically with labor unions.
