The City of Ventura is hiring! The City of Ventura’s Water Department is looking for a Laboratory Analyst I/II to join our Wastewater team! The Laboratory Analyst I/II works under general supervision and is responsible for performing routine chemical, physical, and biological analysis and sampling of potable water, wastewater, industrial waste, stormwater, receiving waters, and other environmental samples.
This series is flexibly staffed, and progression from a I to a II-level is based upon obtaining the required experience and certifications.

The ideal candidate for this position is self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to work independently and as part of a team. This person will understand general laboratory safety standards and understand the California Water Environment Association sampling procedures and chemical testing methods. The ideal candidate has prior working experience in a water/wastewater laboratory operation and is able to stand for long periods of time and perform sampling activities around raw sewage and wastewater. This person will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, demonstrates proficiency in the use of computers, and has excellent math and computation skills.

SALARY: $31.02 - $41.65 Hourly DOQ
