THE JOB/THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
The Mental Health Clinician, reporting directly to the Division Manager, will use a trauma-informed approach to provide emergency mental health services to vulnerable community members. This is a leadership role that will lead street-based outreach services, including the newly created Mobile Crisis Unit, and will oversee the Mental Health Specialist and Case Manager. They will periodically serve as a liaison to the Police and Fire departments, using their skillset to diffuse conflict and reduce harm. The Mental Health Clinician will assess mental health support services, have the training and licensure to be able to put someone on a 5150 hold as a last resort, provide referrals to support services, perform clinician documentation, and provide homeless outreach. They will also collaborate closely with health care, social services agencies, and community services to ensure their clients are getting the care they need.

This role requires street-based outreach experience, as this role will be a part of outreach teams working closely with the community. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working with those experiencing homelessness, mental health, and substance use challenges. They will be resourceful, passionate, and eager to connect with others. As this new Division begins to provide these exciting and innovative services to the community, this position will support the Division Manager in the development and implementation of policies and program management. This role requires a high level of patience, empathy, and understanding, along with a dedication to intense, yet highly rewarding work. The successful candidate will demonstrate their lived experiences, finding ways to use them to better serve these populations in need.
