The County of Yolo is recruiting to fill one (1) regular, full-time position in the class of either Junior Planner or Assistant Planner at the Department of Community Services. The level at which the position will be offered will be based on the candidate's background and experience, and at the discretion of the appointing authority.
- Junior Planner: $60,798 - $73,923 Annually
- Assistant Planner: $69,888 - $84,947 Annually
The ideal candidate for the Assistant/Junior Planner position will possess a combination of key skills that are essential for effective land use planning and successful contribution to the team. These skills include:
- Knowledge of planning and zoning functions and California state laws, including California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA)
- Ability to analyze data, interpret trends, and derive meaningful insights to inform planning and land use-related decisions.
- Meticulous attention to detail in reviewing and organizing information, ensuring accuracy in all aspects of land use planning processes.
Minimum Qualifications
Junior Planner
Education: Equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university in planning, engineering, architecture, resource and environmental management, or closely related field. Up to two years of closely related experience may be substituted for the required education, on a year for year basis.
Experience: Minimum of one (1) year of professional experience in government and/or private industry involving planning, building, permitting, resource or environmental management, or a closely related field.
License: Positions in this classification require incumbents to possess and maintain a valid California driver’s license, Class C or higher, to carry out job related duties. Individuals who do not meet this requirement due to a physical or mental disability may request a reasonable accommodation.
Assistant Planner
Education: Graduation from a four year college or university with a degree in planning, engineering, architecture, resource and environmental management, or closely related field.
Experience: Requires one year of professional planning experience related to current, advanced and/or environmental planning.
