Planners with the City of Madera lead, oversee, review and perform complex and professional land use and urban planning work including current and long range planning, implementation of the City’s General Plan, coordination of special projects; draft ordinances and resolutions; make presentations to various groups; and review complex zoning and development applications. Assignment as either Senior or Associate is dependent on prior work experience. The City is growing and this recruitment will fill a new position added in the City’s mid-year budget.
Experience/ Education:
Senior Planner: 4 years of increasingly responsible experience in urban planning, and a Bachelor’s degree in planning, architecture, landscape architecture or a related field. A Master’s degree in city or urban planning may be substituted for one year of experience.
Associate Planner: 2 years experience in urban planning and a Bachelor's degree in city or regional planning or a related field. Specific experience in environmental review is highly desirable for this position.
Licenses: Valid Class C California Drivers License
