Laguna Niguel is a premier master-planned community located in south Orange County, just minutes away from California's beautiful beaches and pristine coastline. The City is home to approximately 65,000 residents that enjoy a beautiful, safe, vibrant, financially secure, and dynamic community.
The City’s Public Works Department is responsible for the maintenance and construction of the City’s streets, parks and facilities and is on schedule to complete a full spectrum of existing capital improvement projects in this fiscal year. The Public Works Department also issues encroachment permits, addresses transportation and traffic safety, ensures Water Quality compliance with State regulations, and provides critical support services to development review in partnership with the Community Development Department.
The City’s onsite team of professionals is complemented by the use of contract consultants that assist with completing the objectives set forth in the City’s adopted Strategic Plan. The Principal Civil Engineer will plan, organize, supervise, and perform responsible and highly complex professional level engineering work, including the review and design of public works and private development projects, and overseeing the construction of capital improvement projects, development engineering, and supervising critical environmental programs.
The ideal candidate will be a natural leader that can demonstrate exceptional decision making, communication and interpersonal skills. The position requires a strong commitment to developing collaborative working relationships with consultants, City staff and the public.
