The San Rafael Sanitation District (SRSD), which is a part of the City of San Rafael, is seeking a Principal Engineer to join its Engineering Department. This role requires strong project management, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills, as well as a public works background, ideally in sewer and storm drains. The District is continuously working on exciting capital improvement projects (CIP) this engineer will be able to get their hands on. This is a small, yet highly performing agency where each engineer has the opportunity to lead their own projects through, from start to finish. The Principal Engineer will serve as a motivational leader and role model for their team. THE IDEAL CANDIDATE The ideal candidate will have a background and experience in public works and specifically sewer/storm drains and be a motivational leader, role model, and personnel manager. They will work to develop and retain staff through hands-on training and should be an exemplary communicator and provide their team members with continuous constructive feedback. This leader will have impressive project management skills, with the ability to collaborate with others and hold them accountable. Along with being a leader, they will be a team player who isn’t afraid to roll their sleeves up to get the work done. The successful candidate will be solutions-oriented and eager to interact with the public, staff, and other key stakeholders. Strong public speaking and presentation skills are needed of the successful candidate in this dynamic role.
