The City of Newman is accepting applications for one Public Works Director position to perform a variety of tasks including oversight of the City's full-service Public Works Department; water treatment and distribution; wastewater collection and treatment; streets and stormwater; facilities and equipment; capital improvement program; construction projects; project management and inspection; and regulatory compliance. The ideal candidate will be an approachable, highly engaged manager with exceptional interpersonal skills who enjoys the benefits of maintaining a close relationship between the Department and the community. The City offers a comprehensive benefit package including: vacation leave, sick leave, holiday leave and contributes to health, dental and vision coverage for employees and dependents. The City participates in CalPERS in addition to a voluntary 457 plan.
Salary: Up to $147,432 annually (up to $159,228 effective July 1, 2024 and $168,792 in July 2025)
- A variety of Health Plan options are available including Anthem and Kaiser.
- Flexible spending account (IRS Section 125) or HSA health plans are also available.
- Administrative Leave, 80 hours per year.
- Vacation, based upon years of service, 10 days annual vacation increasing to 15 days after 5 years of employment and 20 days after 15 years of employment.
- Sick Leave, 12 days per year.
- 10 paid holidays per year plus a winter closure (5 extra days at the end of December)
- Position is eligible for a 457(b) Deferred Compensation match up to 2% of salary.
- The City participates in Social Security.
- Longevity Pay equal to 3% after 10 years of service and 2% after 20 years of service
