The county offers unsurpassed scenery which includes Yosemite Valley. The climate of Mariposa County ranges from warm dry summers and mild winters in the foothills to mild summers and snowy winters in the higher elevations of the Sierra Nevada. Schools include one distinguished high school, and seven elementary schools containing grades Kindergarten through 8th grade including a CSBA Golden Bell Winner, and a national Blue-Ribbon nominee. Our county is a general law county. We are governed by a 5-member Board of Supervisors elected by district on a non-partisan basis. There are 14 appointed and 5 elected officials and approximately 400 employees.
