The Town of Truckee is seeking a Senior Accountant with strong technical abilities, effective communication skills, and a masterful understanding of complex financial data and day-to-day revenue accounting. The successful candidate will be a collaborative team member as part of a four-person accounting team, who will perform hands-on revenue accounting, assist with audits, complete budget analyses and development, and verify fiscal records and reports. You will also create important accounting practices and procedures and assist in preparing the Town of Truckee’s annual budget, soon to be transitioning to a two-year budget cycle. THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
The ideal candidate possesses strong accounting skills, financial acumen, strategic thinking, and a flexible mentality. To succeed in this role, you should have a customer-centric approach to accounting and working with others. The Senior Accountant has a detailed understanding of how accounting transactions flow and the ability to use data to tell a story in a manner that is understandable to all. This is a unique role, with interpersonal work involved in the revenue accounting and budgeting process. This is a highly collaborative position; the Senior Accountant will work closely with the other Accountants within the division and communicate with all other Town departments as needed. The candidate will be comfortable interfacing with both the public and staff while performing financial data collection and revenue accounting and patiently advising staff members on accounting and budget best practices. Strong interpersonal skills are a must for this position. The successful candidate will communicate effectively with other departments, procuring important data to use in the creation of fiscal reports. A combination of accounting experience and an engaging, collaborative mindset is highly desirable for this position.
