Senior Associate Civil Engineer (REVISED)

Salary $8,411.86 - $10,221.46 monthly

As the City of Ontario continues to experience an increase in economic activities, a variety of new capital improvement and land development projects present unique career opportunities for engineering professionals.  The Senior Associate Civil Engineer, a common classification used in a variety of City departments, performs highly complex professional engineering work which includes a variety of plan review, project management and personnel supervision functions.  The Senior Associate Civil Engineer is responsible for coordinating all activities within their assigned area of responsibility with other City departments and outside agencies.  Depending on the area of assignment, responsibilities may also include overseeing the design and construction of development and capital improvement projects; reviewing improvement plans and studies of a complex or highly technical nature; and managing complex projects and staff.

The Senior Associate Civil Engineer classification is a common classification used in a variety of City departments.  This recruitment will result in an eligibility list which will be used to fill current and future vacancies within this classification.  Current vacancies exist in Land Development, Municipal Utilities Company, and Traffic/Transportation.

Minimum Qualifications
Education
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Civil Engineering or closely related field. 

Experience
Four years of experience in professional civil engineering work, including two years of technical or functional supervisory experience.
Licenses
A valid California Class C driver's license and an acceptable driving record at the time of appointment and throughout employment.

Certification
Registration as a Civil Engineer in the State of California. A copy of your certificate must be attached to your application.  

Desirable 
Public agency experience; technical writing skills; public infrastructure design, and/or plan check experience is highly desirable. When assigned to the Municipal Utilities Company experience in planning, design, and construction of water and sewer systems is desirable. When assigned to Traffic/Transportation knowledge of traffic laws and regulations, principles and practices of transportation planning, traffic engineering, and experience in the operations of traffic signal system and traffic management center is desirable.
