The City of South San Francisco is seeking energetic, self-motivated, and experienced human resources professionals to join a fast-paced and collaborative work environment. Reporting directly to the Human Resources Manager, the Senior Human Resources Analyst will provide high-level support and expertise in areas of assignment, manage programs and special projects, and provide lead direction to Human Resources Analysts and Technicians. The City currently has openings for two Senior Human Resources Analysts.  One position will be primarily assigned to employee health and safety, worker’s compensation, leave management, and benefits. The second position will be primarily assigned to recruitment and selection, job classification, and employee development.  In addition to primary areas of assignments, Senior Human Resources Analysts may be assigned to assist with employee and labor relations, and City-wide initiatives such as employee engagement, wellness, and diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), City internship programs and other special programs and projects.

This position will work primarily on site, and with the option of a hybrid work schedule (up to two days per week of remote work).

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of progressively responsible experience in related human resources functions, ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities, ability to lead and manage complex programs and projects, oversee and direct the work of staff, perform research and analysis on a variety of issues in assigned program areas, write clear and concise reports, employ best practices and critical thinking to implement improvements to programs and processes, build strong relationships and work effectively with a variety of City staff, consultants, labor representatives, and others contacted in the course of work.

The Human Resources Department is a full-service department serving as a strategic partner supporting departments to make the City of South San Francisco an employer of choice by attracting, sustaining, and inspiring excellence in people with great passion to serve this community. The department has recently increased staffing to a total of 10 FTE in order to enhance our programs and services to employees and the community. 

The Human Resources Department core services and competences include recruitment and classification, organizational and employee development, employee and labor relations, compensation, benefits, health and safety, worker’s compensation, HR information management, and administrative services.

Salary Range: $113,173 - $137,571 annually
