The City of Sunnyvale is accepting applications for Senior Management Analyst, with two (2) current vacancies in the Information Technology Department and the Department of Public Safety. The list established from this recruitment may also be used to fill Senior Management Analyst vacancies in other City Departments.

The vacancy in the Information Technology Department reports to the Chief Information Officer (CIO) and manages the IT Administration, Fiscal, and Performance Management Division. This Division focuses on managing IT assets, contracts, procurements and grants Citywide; participates in IT strategic planning; acts as a legislative liaison; and manages the department’s administrative services such as budget, payroll, performance measures and tracking SMART goals. The ideal candidate will:

  • Have a strong understanding of accounting, financials, and managing an operational budget 
  • Be able to assist the CIO in setting charge-back and replacement costs for IT equipment and services Citywide 
  • Be a part of the IT Management Team to provide direction on the department’s performance measures, policies, strategic planning, financial planning, procurement, and goal setting 
  • Understand how to respond to citizen relationship management (CRM) requests and complaints in a professional and timely manner
     

The Department of Public Safety provides fully integrated public safety services to the community. This position offers an opportunity to manage assets, contracts, and procurements, as well as managing the budget and performance measures. Distinguishing characteristics of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Develop, monitor, and maintain the department’s grants.
  • Administer and enforce specialized Public Safety licenses and permits.
  • Manage the department’s budget, conduct expenditure audits, oversee revenue recovery, and payroll.
  • Coordinate with DPS managers and command staff for the nine programs within the department: Police Services, Fire Services,  Administrative Services, Community Safety Services, Recruitment/Personnel Services, Investigations Services, Communications Services, Records/Property Services, and Fire Prevention/HazMat Services.


For the Senior Management Analyst, the City of Sunnyvale:

  • contributes 4% of the 7% employee contribution to CalPERS for classic members;
  • contributes 2% of an employee's gross pay to a deferred compensation plan, and
  • provides fully employer paid medical, dental, and vision benefits.
