SENIOR PLAN CHECKER
Annual Salary: $101,964.00 - $143,448.00 DOQ

Under supervision of the Building Official, reviews building plans and specifications for compliance with applicable building codes and city ordinances, standards, municipal codes, and other established policies and procedures. The Senior Building Plan Checker is distinguished by their required breadth of knowledge and experience enforcing building codes and standards.
Any combination demonstrating the ability to effectively and successfully perform the duties of the position is considered qualifying. A typical combination is as follows:
Education: Equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in engineering, architecture, building inspection, or a related field.
Experience: Five (5) years of full-time responsible experience in reviewing construction plans.
License and Certifications: Certification as a Building Plans Examiner by the International Code Council (ICC) is required. A valid Class C California driver's license and an acceptable driving record are required.
The following are highly desirable:
California registration as a Civil or Structural Engineer
Certification as an Energy and Green Plans Examiner
Certification as a California Access Specialist (CASp)
