The City of Oceanside is accepting applications to establish an eligibility list for Supervising Accountant. There is currently one vacancy in the Housing and Neighborhood Services Department. This position will report to the Housing and Neighborhood Services Director.
 
Oceanside’s Housing and Neighborhood Services Department, serving as the City’s Public Housing Authority, equips and empowers its diverse residents with innovative and effective housing solutions and information and the resources to build strong families and to strengthen the social and physical fabric of the community.  To carry out its mission, the Department is responsible for the management and implementation of a number of federal and state funding programs including:  U.S Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) entitlement programs (CDBG/HOME), Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher (HCV), and Homeless Assistance programs.
 
We are currently recruiting for accounting positions to join our fast paced, service oriented Department in the administration and management of its various grants and funding programs. This role provides vital services to internal employees, program participants, outside investors, and a wide array of other stakeholders. This position performs technical work in the maintenance, analysis, interpretation, and management of financial accounting data within the Housing Authority, ensuring compliance with governmental accounting regulations and procedures, and related work as apparent or assigned. Experience and knowledge of U.S. Department of Housing and Development (HUD), Federal, State and local government accounting regulations and procedures; Authority regulations, policies and procedures is preferred.

Qualified applicants must possess five years of increasingly responsible professional accounting experience including one year of lead supervisory responsibility and a Bachelor's degree with major course work in accounting, business administration or a closely related field.
