Child Protective Services Counsel III

TYPICAL DUTIES

Renders legal advice to Human Services social workers and other staff regarding a variety of civil matters where the custody and protection of children becomes a legal issue; trains social service staff in the proper preparation of cases for court.
Researches and analyzes existing laws and regulations, court decisions, pending legislation and a variety of other legal material related to wardship, dependency, adoption, placement and related issues.
Prepares and reviews briefs, memoranda, opinions and pleadings in a variety of civil matters involving children.

The Santa Clara Valley Water District (Valley Water), headquartered in San Jose, California is the primary water resources agency for Santa Clara County, California. Its core business is to provide residents with a clean and reliable supply of water and protection from flooding. Valley Water encompasses all of the county’s 1,300 square miles and serves the area’s 15 cities, nearly 1.8 million residents, and more than 200,000 commuters.

Land Use Attorney-County Counsel

THE JOB: Competitive candidates will have demonstrated expertise handling legal issues related to California Planning and Zoning law, CEQA, the Subdivision Map Act, and the Coastal Act. Experience working with local land use ordinances and programs (e.g., affordable housing restrictions, vacation rentals, etc.) is also beneficial.

This attorney will represent the Planning Department, the Planning Commission, Santa Cruz County LAFCO, and other clients principally associated with land use.
