BASIC FUNCTION:

Under the direction of the Director of Engineering, plan, organize, direct and control operations and activities related to the design, construction, and operation of public works facilities. Coordinate activities and communicate effectively with other departments, regulators, residents, and businesses. Provide professional and technical staff assistance as needed.  Supervise professional, technical and support staff, directly or through subordinates.

The County of Madera seeks a highly qualified leader and skilled manager to guide the Public Works Department. Under policy direction of the Board of Supervisors, and day-to-day oversight by the Chief of Development Services and/or the CAO, the Director is responsible for the overall operations and functions of the Public Works Department. This is an at-will executive management position that provides leadership, strategic vision, administrative oversight, and policy direction to the various divisions and organizational units of Public Works.
