Fullerton’s former police chief and a department captain have pleaded guilty to attacking paramedics at a Lady Antebellum concert they attended off-duty in Irvine last summer.
By pleading guilty to misdemeanor charges of disturbing the peace, ex-chief David Hendricks, 47, and Capt. Thomas Oliveras, 50, will avoid jail time. The two have also agreed to contribute $500 to the Victim Witness Emergency Fund. The plea allowed Hendricks and Oliveras to avoid counts of battery and resisting arrest.
Alcohol is believed to have been a key factor in the concert altercation.
Hendricks resigned in November and was replaced in the interim by Fullerton Police Capt. Robert Dunn II. The city is still searching for a permanent police chief.
