Truckee Assistant Town Manager Alex Terrazas has been chosen as the next city manager of Los Banos. The City Council approved a five-year contract with Terrazas at its meeting Wednesday, concluding an extensive search over a period of five months.
Terrazas is replacing Steve Carrigan who departed in January for the City of Merced. Since then, Los Banos Police Chief Gary Brizzee has occupied the position on an interim basis.
Under the terms of Terrazas’ employment agreement, he will earn an annual base salary of $170,000 with a yearly raise of five percent for the next two years. He is scheduled to take over the position July 1.
“Alex brings a broad range of experience to Los Banos that will prove valuable as we focus on important areas of economic and community development,” said Mayor Mike Villalta. That experience includes over two decades of service in two California cities, as well as work for the League of California Cities.
