A handful of California cities will hold special elections on August 26 to fill vacant City Council seats. All of the contests will be conducted entirely by mail.

The change was necessary to “correct what three lousy city officials did,” said Councilmember Brett Jones, referring to the 2022 firing of Joshua Pinheiro.

Wellman is taking over for Josh Pinheiro, who was terminated in a divided vote by the city council last month. 

“I am absolutely appalled and embarrassed” one member said.

Truckee Assistant Town Manager Alex Terrazas has been chosen as the next city manager of Los Banos.
